Na Mele Ko`olaupoko Song Composers Competition
SONG COMPOSERS COMPETITION WILL FEATURE KO’OLAUPOKO MELE
The Na Mele Ko`olaupoko Song Composers Competition will be held on Saturday, March 26 in Center Court from 1:00 pm at Windward Mall by the Ko`olaupoko Hawaiian Civic Club, which is coordinating the event to encourage the composition of original songs about Ko’olaupoko – its people, its places, its spirit; anything in the Ko’olaupoko area from Waimanalo to Kualoa.
The primary requirements are that the song must not have been pre-recorded or sold commercially, and that the song be about something that comes from Ko`olaupoko – places, people, events, etc.
Supporters for this year’s event are Hawaiian Electric Company, Windward Mall, Ko’olaupoko Hawaiian Civic Club, and Ko’olau Foundation.
The Ko`olaupoko Hawaiian Civic Club was established in 1937 and is a not-for-profit community organization dedicated to preserving and perpetuating the history, heritage and culture of Native Hawaiians. One of the largest of the Hawaiian Civic Clubs, its membership is open to people of Hawaiian ancestry
and those who are “Hawaiian at heart”.
