13th Festival of Pacific Arts and Culture
Windward Mall is honored to invite the community to the 13th Festival of Pacific Arts and Culture (FestPAC) Hō‘ike‘ike on Friday, June 7, and Saturday, June 8 from 3 to 7 p.m. in Center Court. FestPAC is the world’s largest celebration of the indigenous Pacific Islanders, bringing together artists, cultural practitioners, scholars, officials, and the public from across the Pacific Islands and beyond. Since its inception in 1972, FestPAC has been hosted by different Pacific Island nations on a rotational basis, once every four years. The festival serves as an important venue for cultural conservation and revitalization, creativity and innovation, and cultural diplomacy for the Pacific community.
FestPAC Hawaiʻi 2024’s theme is “Ho‘oulu Lāhui: Regenerating Oceania,” honoring the traditions that FestPAC works to perpetuate with an eye toward the future. This will be the first time Hawai‘i is hosting FestPAC, after postponing its originally scheduled date in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Windward Mall will host a satellite stage for FestPAC’s Hō‘ike‘ike featuring heritage dance performances by groups from 28 countries. It is one of 12 venues hosting FestPAC events throughout O‘ahu, with the main Festival Village and Marketplace at the Hawai‘i Convention Center. The 10-day festival will feature more than 50 programs and events, including conferences and symposia, live performances, cultural workshops, hands-on demonstrations, films, storytelling, and more.
